Chapter Eight
The final drama before the end!
The boat made port at London port Anne watched from the deck searching for Catherine! She saw her standing next to two other woman and behind them stood a man of middle height. "Mr. Jones"! She thought "it seems ether she doesn’t know yet or she took it extremely well" ."She looks really happy as though she just got engaged"! She thought to her self. The captain came and stood by her, he smiled and sad "are those good people your escorts madam"? "Yes Sir she is my sister and some friends". "All very good you may leave any time". Anne curtsied and thanked him for his generosity "tell me sir what is to be done with the prisoners"? "They will be taken to the jail and hanged proper as all mutineers should". "Hanged"! Shuddered Anne "such a harsh punishment"! "It is a hard crime meme"! Said the Captain as the boat docked.
She thanked him again and walked off the boat as soon as she was off .
Catherine came to meet her. They embraced and cried and hugged for the longest time then Catherine saw her brother chained and cuffed marched down the street "oh oh" she gasped "Henry dear what are we going to do they are going to hang him"!
"No they won’t". Said Henry calmly "I have a plain of escape" .
"Yes said his sisters those two boys has always gotten each other out of scrapes".
"I see" said both woman. Henry first said "we are going to need a boat"."Was Criss w on the boat"? "Yes he should still be on".Said Anne. "Good I will go talk to him". And he was soon gone. Anne turned on Catherine "Henry dear"?
She said in a questioning voice .
The three woman laughed and Catherine smiled and said "Come to our apartment and I will tell you all about it".
"No"! Said Anne "this is wonderful if it is true. You are engaged"!
"Isn't it wonderful" said Catherine "he proposed to me on the very day I found out the truth and I said yes right away it was like a dream come true"!
"But how was it finding out I mean your experience must have been much more terrifying then mine"? "After all he changed into a wolf right in front of you and Edward well he may be dangerous all the time but he doesn’t suddenly change into an animal"! "I must admit said Catherine I am a bite frightened but I love him so much love conquers all fear". "I have something to tell you as well", said Anne with a smile "Edward proposed to me to a few days after his imprisonment". "He said once this was all over we would have a double marriage"!
The four of them smiled at each other "those sly men" said Catherine "telling each other that there going to be married I bet they had the escape all planed out"!
"We do".Said two voices behind them .
They all turned with a start there in the door way was Henry and Edward!

All four woman stood up "how"? Said Anne "There will be time enough for that".
Said both men "right now we have a ship we need to board if we are to be out at sea before dawn so come".
They all left out into the streets it was dark and the streets were deserted we must be extra quit said Henry the streets and corridors are full of guards!
They snuck along "hide"! Was the quite command and they were all pulled into a corridor as guards marched passed them.
Suddenly Edward hissed and spun around.There in the corridor was the tall figure of a man! The man came out of the shadow and Edward pulled everyone behind him when he saw who it was. Nevel! The Vampire snarled as Nevel said I have been all over the world looking for you and now I shall finish you off! Edward snarled Anne and Catherine and the others hide behind Henry but he was sweating and breathing hard.
"Back off"! Shouted Catherine they all did as she told .
A shining white silver light blazed in every direction when it faded in Henry's place was a wolf of immense size it growled with Edward at the vampire and they both lunged! Nevel who at first had had so much courage backed up at the ferrous monsters coming toward him. Edward had his teeth bared and was on hand an feet crouching and growling muscles tensed in position to pounce.
Henry was also crouching and growling sharp fangs showing.
The vampire lost all courage and ran.
Henry ran after it his heart unable to calm down from the anger and excitement. "Come". Said Edward "he can take care of himself".
Catherine looked back into the dark corridor she thought she could hear whimpering but she followed her brother and the two other girls and tried not to think of what was going on back in the corridor. They soon came to a dock where a boat was anchored! "Get on". Said Edward. "He should be hear shortly"!
They waited for a few hours suddenly they saw him he was torn and bloody but besides that he was running as fast as he could although there was a limp in his leg behind him there were guards! "Come on come on" said Edward the three others cheered him on and he leaped and landed on the deck as the boat pulled out just as the guards reached them and fired gunshots!
Soon they were out into the sea and Henry calmed down and went back into his human form all cut up and bruised but alive. Catherine knelt beside him touching him lightly as a silver medallion glowed on his chest he looked at her with dazed eyes as they continued to glow yellow until both his eyes and medallion stopped glowing then he looked up and smiled at Catherine she smiled back he sat up wincing "Linda"! said Catherine "get the medical bag"." Lydia get fresh cloths"!
The two sisters got to work without a word clearly they had done this before.
Anne watched on with Edward at her side holding her hand.

Chapter 7
Chapter seven
Back at Sea!
Edward walked into the cooks room to check on Anne a month had gone by at sea Anne seemed to fit in just fie she had absolutely no idea who Edward really was and nor that he was madly in love with her she and Mat had become friends and had no arguments mostly because Mat gave in when she begged or looked at him in a certain way so things were going fine but in a few more months they would set her free Edward had already written to Henry in Newcastle telling him to be there for her.
But things were changing after those few months he did not know why but she was starting to pay him more attention then the others he did not know why but he had a suspicion Mat he hopped he did not tell him anything that would arouse her suspicions so one day during meal time he took mat aside and asked him if he had told Anne anything about him only the fact that you are an orphan sir and that the Navy kicked you out because you tried to help me escape I think she likes men like yourself even if you are hiding all your good looks under that beard.
Edward let out a sigh of relief "ohh good I thought maybe you told her the truth"! "No sir never would do that not even if she did that fluttery thing with her eyelashes at me". Edward laughed "I am sure you wouldn’t to many girls have already tried that trick on you for you to be fooled by it".
Mat smiled "you got that right boss".
Just at that moment Anne came in and smiled at them both "hello men you know second Mate I have been on this ship for a mouth or more and never once has anyone hear called you by name you do have a name do you no"t?
"Sure I have one I just never use it anymore and no one on this ship uses it ether". "I see" said Anne a little disappointed "tell me then how much longer must I be on this ship"?"Another month or two then we shall reach London port and we can let you go". "But I have no one who will pick me up" said Anne "I have written to a friend of yours a Mr. Jones he and his sisters will be there to pick you up" .
Anne looked startled "how do you know about my relation with Mr. Jones" ?
"I am a Pirate lets just leave it at that". Anne looked more and more puzzled but said nothing and went back to work. Edward left the cabin and went to his own cabin John was there just taking off his fake whiskers Edward looked at him and said "I have to ask you to take over once we let her go" ?"Why"? "Because I love her and want to marry her and I cant very well do that if I am a Pirate now can I"?
"No but what about your other secrete will you tell her that one"?
"Not if I can help it but if I must tell her and she is frightened off, then I will give up and go back into the navy". John smiled "and do you really think she is going to warm up to you after you tell her the truth about yourself don’t you think she will hate you even more when she finds out you are a Pirate and the other thing you never want me to mention"! "If she really loves me she won’t care". "But if she finds out that you lied to her all this time do you think she will still love you still"? There was silence for a few moments then "Well that is something I never counted on but still what was I to do I didn’t know we would pick her up and how was I to tell her I was responsible for her guardians death you wouldn’t even be that brave". "True enough" said John "I guess I cant really correct you for anything because I really don’t know what’s going on up inside that head of yours".
Edward smiled "you sure don’t and I hope you never will you wouldn’t like what was going on inside off there" . John nodded "I believe you" I am sure you will always do the right thing". there was silence for a few moment suddenly up above the sounds of cannons could be heard. "What is going on up there" said Edward running up the ladder John followed behind.
On the deck were sailors and men shouting and screaming out to sea they saw what was making all the racket they could see a ship with white sails Anne came out and smiled it is one of the navy’s ships she would be saved ! Boom the whole boat rocked as a huge cannon ball hit the side of the ship they started going down "abandon ship"! Shouted Edward as men started jumping overboard Mat came up and Edward said "get Anne off the ship". Matt "Aye Aye Sir" said Matt taking Anne by the arm she looked back as the ship started sinking then before they could get off another cannon ball shook the boat and they all tumbled into the water !
Edward John and Matt were all wet Edward and Johns whiskers were off and showed there real faces Anne was nowhere to be seen "she must have gone under" said John Edward wasted no time he went under the water she had already sunk deep down without holding his breath. And went down faster then light and was soon back up with her in his arms She was unconsense and he was just about to help her out when he felt the point of a gun at the back of his neck "Hands up"! Came a voice "and turn around slowly" he did so to come face to face with Captain Smith! "Well well said the Captain if it isn’t the mutineer Edward Darcy"! "Hello captain" said Edward "its good to see you again"! "Not as good as it is to see you we have been looking for you for a long time to put you into a cell and your mutineer buddies to". He said looking at John and Matt. "Black slavery is abolished now my friend so your friend hear would have gone free if he had not mutinied with you so now all tree of you are charged on the same principle". Just then Anne woke up sputtering and coughing one of the sailors had revived her and she was looking with a shocked face at what she saw Edward she almost choked "you are hear"! "what are you doing hear"? "He" said the Captain "is a pirate mame a mutineer and Captain of the Swift Death"!
She looked up at him startled" You are the captain"! He smiled ruefully at her as his hands were clasped in Irons "so I am you think I would have told you after what I did unknowingly to your uncle and Family"? "But you’re a pirate""! "Yes".
"Dose your sister know"? "No I would not tell her for the world and I ask you that you will not tell her ether when you see her again". His eyes looked at her with the pleading face and she told him "I will not tel"l. He smiled gratefully at her as he was taken away with John and Matt to the Ships prison.
Anne with sudden tiredness sank down onto the deck head in her hands.
The Captain said "take the lady to my privet champers she needs to recover after all this excitement". The men nodded and helped Anne to the Captains privet chambers.
That evening while she was dinning with the captain she asked him to tell the story of the mutiny against the ship! The Captain smiled "well it was really simple it started with Edward wanting the black slave Matt to go free off course then it was impossible to do so and I told him that Edward had always been a softy with a big heart and I had never seen him go against my orders but that night along with a good friend named John they went down and set the slave Matt free then they all three jumped ship and swam off somewhere and Edward made his own ship on a deserted Island while the others defended it his whole crew was taken from mutineers like himself and they became the feared Swift Death upon the water. Anne listened to the tale in silence most of the story matched to what Matt had said about Edward and know she knew why she had thought the way he walked so familiar she had seen him walk that way back on land she wondered if Mr. Jones knew Edwards real identity She wanted the full story though so that night when everyone was sleeping she snuck down to the dark wet cages where the prisoners were kept and whispered his name.
"Edward"! He sat up and spun around there she was what in the world was she doing hear she came up to the cage lantern in her hand as she said "Edward I need you to tell me the truth about what happened to you". "I want to trust you but haw can you expect me to do that I told you are not honest with me tell the truth about yourself please and I will try to process everything in a optimistic way". He smiled at her "very well but you must be prepared for a shock and open your mind to anything". "Firstly do you believe in the supernatural"? "You mean like spirits and such"?
"Yes but more specifically do you believe in Vampires and War wolfs and those kind of things"? "Not really I mean I have never seen the like." "Are you sure about that"? asked Edward with a sly smile "are you sure you are not talking to one at this very moment". Anne looked at him and at the others "what are you trying to say" Edward?" "Only that things are not what they seem and that the story I tell you may put you into shock do you have a open mind and are you ready to believe anything"?
"I can try"said Anne more puzzled then ever ."That’s good enough" said Edward "very well I shall begin". "As you know I left my father and sister at 15 to join the navy and was after ward thought dead by my superiors because I did not come back for a few years". "That was true after I joined the navy we stopped at a small sea village". "There I met a man called Nevel he acted very friendly and invited me to come and drink with him to which I obliged him". "I did not know why but I did after that I awoke in the street to find myself changed I had sharper senses and everything around me seemed clearer". "Then there in front of me was Nevel he seemed to be cautiously coming toward me I spoke out what are you doing"? He said "finishing you I need it all from you for I am starving and you have some of the sweetest blood I have ever tasted"! I thought he was in sign. Then I touched something on my shoulder two small scares wide enough apart to be teeth!
I froze realizing what was in my path and what he had done to me.
He would have killed me I am sure but some thing must have frightened him off and he had come back later when I was more keen to finish me off.
I would not allow it so I ran. The navy was about to give up they had been searching for me for a week with no success but John my loyal friend would not give up on me and when they found me I was asked where I had been I had to think of something so I told them I got drunk. Of course they did not believe me so I was punished severely and told that next time something like that happened I would be left behind of course I believed them so from then on whenever we docked at port I would stay on bored there seemed no reason for me to get off I got everything I needed from the sea!
"Please don’t be grossed out". Said Edward looking at Anne "just don’t think about how I feed".
"Anyway I went on to become an officer by this time I would be around 21 my change had taken place when I was 19 so I would remain as 19 for ever".
"Around this time is when I Met Mr. Jones he was on a cruse with his two sister and I was an officer on leave on his ship he and I at first did not get along very well and I shall soon explain why". "It was the night of the full moon I was on deck keeping watch when I saw in the shadows the form of a man I could see in the dark with my new vision that it was Mr. Jones."He was talking to two men who I saw were Matt and John they both were taken into my confidence and knew who I was as I watched them both men took a few steps back I saw him shiver and shake and suddenly a burst of silver light shot out from him and in his place was a wolf the size of a bear"! "I didn’t know what to think so I just stood there. "His sisters came on deck they evidently knew who he was because they begged me with pleading voices. "please we didn’t expect to be on the boat this long the captain is coming up you have t do some thing"! I heard the Captain I only had a minute to come up with a lantern. So I went up to him and sad "Sir I think we shouldn’t have any slaves on this boat this lead as I hopped into an Argument finally I said "then I will do it myself" and taking Matt by the arm I dove into the water the captain was to angry looking over the side I had jumped to notice that John had taken Jones and his two sisters over the other side one we were out of sight of the ship. "We came to a desert Island and there I built the Swift Death it seemed to me the only way to explain myself was to become a Pirate so that is what I did. Mr. Jones and I in the meantime became good friend as I took him back to England every time he would change and there would be a ship in the way we would fire at it to chase them away and to drawn out the noise it worked and we were soon back in London.
"There Is where I masqueraded as a officer on leave and together we went to new castle where he bought the estate then he came to fetch me where I had been hiding in London and well you know the rest of the story".
Anne was silent for long while then she said "Is Mr. Jones safe"?
He looked there with a puzzled expression then he smiled as he said "of course he is safe your friend will be perfectly fine I even think he has fallen for her"!
"That would be something she has already fallen for him"! "Ha"! "How about that well I hope they get along as she is going to be staying with him a long time and I hope there talk of the truth will be in a more happy area then we are in".
Anne smiled as she said "you know I can’t really blame you for what you did after all you were only helping a friend and only had a few minutes to think of something I am sure that if you had more time you would have thought of something better".

But what about your uncle"? "Well that was all unintentional uncle is happy where he is am sure and Aunt and cousins well they deserved to die they were never very happy on earth". She stuck her small arms through the bars and he took his in his they smiled and looked into each other’s eyes and were soon lost in a daze. There moment was broken by a clearing of throats. "I hate to break up the little moment" said John "but if you haven’t noticed Edward we are still stuck in a dungeon and probably you will never see each other again unless you make a plain!" Edward thought in silence then he snapped his fingers "I have it Jones" !
"Anne"! He said turning to her "Yes"? she said ""can you get me some paper and pen?"
"Yes I can". She said and left the dungeon.
Edward smiled "Well well"! Said John "how about that it wasn’t as hard as you though was it"? "No it was not but I was sure after she listened to my story some thing would make her accept me". "Is that why you spoke with such confidence to her"? "Yes it was". "Tell me who are you going to write to"? "Jones of course".
"Tell me how are you going to get the letter to him"?

"Yes I saw him as I got on the ship I will ask Anne to give it to him and then he can give it to Jones".
Anne soon came back with the writing materials and he began his letter" Dear Jones I need your help wait for us at London port yours sincerely Edward".
He then folded the envelope and handed it to Anne saying "see that this gets into the hands of Criss the tugboat man he will be standing by the deck wearing a white sailors hat you can’t miss him".
She took the letter and left the dungeons soon the letter was on its way to Jones.

"It was the night of the full moon I was on deck keeping watch when I saw in the shadows the form of a man I could see in the dark with my new vision that it was Mr. Jones."He was talking to two men who I saw were Matt and John they both were taken into my confidence and knew who I was as I watched them both men took a few steps back I saw him shiver and shake and suddenly a burst of silver light shot out from him and in his place was a wolf the size of a bear"! "I didn’t know what to think so I just stood there. "His sisters came on deck they evidently knew who he was because they begged me with pleading voices. "please we didn’t expect to be on the boat this long the captain is coming up you have t do some thing"! I heard the Captain I only had a minute to come up with a lantern. So I went up to him and sad "Sir I think we shouldn’t have any slaves on this boat this lead as I hopped into an Argument finally I said "then I will do it myself" and taking Matt by the arm I dove into the water the captain was to angry looking over the side I had jumped to notice that John had taken Jones and his two sisters over the other side one we were out of sight of the ship. "We came to a desert Island and there I built the Swift Death it seemed to me the only way to explain myself was to become a Pirate so that is what I did. Mr. Jones and I in the meantime became good friend as I took him back to England every time he would change and there would be a ship in the way we would fire at it to chase them away and to drawn out the noise it worked and we were soon back in London.
"There Is where I masqueraded as a officer on leave and together we went to new castle where he bought the estate then he came to fetch me where I had been hiding in London and well you know the rest of the story".
Anne was silent for long while then she said "Is Mr. Jones safe"?
He looked there with a puzzled expression then he smiled as he said "of course he is safe your friend will be perfectly fine I even think he has fallen for her"!
"That would be something she has already fallen for him"! "Ha"! "How about that well I hope they get along as she is going to be staying with him a long time and I hope there talk of the truth will be in a more happy area then we are in".
Anne smiled as she said "you know I can’t really blame you for what you did after all you were only helping a friend and only had a few minutes to think of something I am sure that if you had more time you would have thought of something better".
Edward smiled "so you are not frightened of me at all"?
"No I am not I know you Edward and know you would not hurt anyone without a purpose". "
But what about your uncle"? "Well that was all unintentional uncle is happy where he is am sure and Aunt and cousins well they deserved to die they were never very happy on earth". The smile Edward gave her could have lit up the whole cell and Anne was joyous to know that felt and loved her just as much as she did maybe more.
She stuck her small arms through the bars and he took his in his they smiled and looked into each other’s eyes and were soon lost in a daze. There moment was broken by a clearing of throats. "I hate to break up the little moment" said John "but if you haven’t noticed Edward we are still stuck in a dungeon and probably you will never see each other again unless you make a plain!" "Yes yes a plain".
Edward thought in silence then he snapped his fingers "I have it Jones" !
"Anne"! He said turning to her "Yes"? she said ""can you get me some paper and pen?"
"Yes I can". She said and left the dungeon.
Edward smiled "Well well"! Said John "how about that it wasn’t as hard as you though was it"? "No it was not but I was sure after she listened to my story some thing would make her accept me". "Is that why you spoke with such confidence to her"? "Yes it was". "Tell me who are you going to write to"? "Jones of course".
"Tell me how are you going to get the letter to him"?
"By way of Criss"! "Is he still on the ship"?
"Yes I saw him as I got on the ship I will ask Anne to give it to him and then he can give it to Jones".
Anne soon came back with the writing materials and he began his letter" Dear Jones I need your help wait for us at London port yours sincerely Edward".
He then folded the envelope and handed it to Anne saying "see that this gets into the hands of Criss the tugboat man he will be standing by the deck wearing a white sailors hat you can’t miss him".
She took the letter and left the dungeons soon the letter was on its way to Jones.

Chapter six.
The truth at last.
It was the night of the full moon the night when things change and the unexpected happens.
Henry was sitting with Catherine outside on the porch when the full moon came up he had brought her hear for this very reason he wanted to see if her love was real.
She looked at him the moon over his shoulders and suddenly said "why are you sweating on such a cold night"? "My God Henry what’s happening to you your swelling up"!She screamed and would have fallen of the porch but he caught her she screamed louder as his hands became claws his eyes started glowing yellow and his nose became a wolf noise! She tried pulling free but his grip was strong.
Suddenly something made him let her go and she ran and ran not heading the voices of the two sisters telling her not to leave the house and danger.
She ran out into the forest screaming all the way and collapsed by a small pond!
A rustled in the trees made her look up and she froze coming toward her on ether side were wolves sneering and growing she was frozen and trapped behind her a pound of water around her 12 or so wolves coming toward her . She shut her eyes sure that now she was gone and going to see her father. She braced herself ready for the first leap but it never came instead she heard a louder growl and whimpers like hurt Dogs she peaked one eye and saw a huge wolf ten times her size almost as large as a bear slashing about tossing the wolves aside as if they were nothing more then rocks. Soon all the wolves had ether run off or were dead! She then opened her eyes and saw the monster wolf he looked at her his eyes glowing yellow as the moonlight shone over him then he stood up and cautiously walked toward her she stepped back and fell into the pound. He stopped in his tracks and stood there watching her she didn’t move only stared at him swallowing sometimes and shutting her eyes but every time she opened her eyes he was still there looking at her then she noticed something there was a pool of blood by his leg. All fear disappeared from her and she stood up and walked toward him he went back a few inches limping as he did so.
It’s ok she said I want to help you he whimpered and walked back a few more inches what’s wrong she thought to herself if this is Henry and he is what I think he is then why this fear of me now that I want to help him .
Suddenly a light shone on the wolf and he shivered the moon was almost gone he howled so loud Catherine shut her eyes and covered her ears as the howl screeched through the forest when it was over and she looked to the place where the wolf was in his place was Henry! His cloths were torn with cuts and tears and on his leg was a gash indented with marks that looked like wolf teeth!
She slowly walked toward him his silver medallion hug about his neck as he opened his eyes they had a faraway look in the eyes which still glowed he stared at her with scared eyes for some time with no recognisation in his eyes finally the medallion glowed so brightly she had to look away when she looked again his eye were back to there normal color and he was looking at her with a face that showed worry .
She smiled at him and looked at her with a surprised face as he choked out the words "you are not afraid"? "Oh I am afraid as well as puzzled and awed and everything else you can imagine but you are still Henry and I love you for your heart not your face or your shape although I must say you are very handsome as a man".
He smiled at her "you know you warmed up to me much faster then my sisters did I was expecting much more screaming and locking yourself up in your room for a week that is what they did"! Catherine smiled "well you see I am nothing like your sisters and I am sure they did not run out of the house or have you save t here lives from wolves". "No they did not those wolves are going to hold a grudge against me for some time now I usually am on friendly terms with them this was the first time I had to attack them I need to apologize to them next time I see them".
"I am sorry about that said Catherine apologize to them from me to maybe we can all be friend".s Henry laughed then winced "oh"1 said Catherine with concern "dose this happen to you every time I mean look at your skin it is covered in scares."
"Yes every time war wolfs are known to attack themselves and it always hurts when I change it leaves a scare every time" ."The one on your shoulder the silver scare that was glowing and looks like fang marks"?"The mark of the war wolf the scare will never go away it was left there by the one who turned me into the monster I am". Catherine looked at him with sympathy and said "come lets get you home and clean up your leg I am glad they didn’t break any bones". "So am "I. Said Henry as she helped him to his feet. "While you recover you can tell me the whole truth about yourself and I can spend much more time with you on the excuse that I am your nurse I am sure your sisters will not object"? He smiled "on the contrary they will be more then happy they had been waiting most impenitently for you to find out and they are going to be ecstatic when they find out that you took it so well" .
"I am glad of it". Said Catherine "come lets get you home before this gets infected"!
He nodded and stood up with her and they slowly made there way back toward home.

Ship life and the truth continues to hide!
Anne woke up the next morning with a bad headache!
She hardly remembered the last nights events except that she had for some reason gone into the Captain cabin to eat with him and had to wear this extremely tight dress! She shook her head she had no idea what came over her but got up and got dressed then went to the cabin door it was unlocked so she opened it and went outside onto the ships deck ! There were men up and working already she saw the Captain on deck with someone next to him she recognized him at once the second mate who had brought her to him who smelled so nice .As if on Que he turned around and she saw a face which made her stumble back. It was hideous covered in scares and a big harry beard! "Why was I attracted to that face"? She thought to herself as the captain also turned and she saw the same face but not as wild as the second mates.
The captain smiled and walked up to her and said "how did you sleep miss"?
"Very well thank you". "Good good well now" he said "if you are going to stay on my ship for some time we need to find something for you to do we cant have no one being idle now can we" ?"No sir" said the second mate his voice also made her start it was not a voice she expected from such a gruff face it was soft and warm just like his smell." But she thought he is very ugly I guess he has a voice and a smell to make others see beyond that I am sure no girl ever got close enough to hear him speak his face would frighten them off he would frighten me off to if I had anywhere to go."
Her train of thought was broken by the captain voice who said can you cook?
"Yes sir I can". "Good we can put you to work with the cook he will be glad for the help". Mate take her down to the cooks gallantry!
The second mate saluted then taking her by the arm his touch was extremely soft his hands were very soft for a man of the sea but at the same time he had a very strong grip she followed him all the while stating at him h was very strange for a Pirate and yet there was something about him that was familiar to her the way he carried himself was proud and important not like a second mate more like a Captain.
"Huph" She thought "I bet they are all like him and think of themselves as self important people they are lawless pirates after all"! She followed in silence after this but could not get him off her mind he knocked on a door and opened it there was a very big but not fat black man covered in steam from a cook pot he looked up and smiled showing golden teeth and holding a huge wooden ladle.
Anne was so frightened she hide behind Edwards back he smiled and said "Mat this is Anne she is going to help you with the cooking"!
"Well how bout that" said Mat "just what I need someone to make my load easier tell me little girl what can you do"? "I can make almost anything" said Anne in a trembling voice "I was the head cook at my house". "All the better" said Mat "so we can get to work then come hear I’ll give you an apron and you can get to work chopping up those vegetables while I continue suturing this broth".
Edward left with a smile on his face as he closed the door behind him.
He had met Mat when he first joined the navy he was only other besides John who knew about his real condition and he trusted him to remain silent .
He went back up to the ships deck and went to John who smiled at him as he said "so how did she take to big Mat"? "She was frightened I could tell from the look on her face that she had never seen a black person before but Mat is harmless and she will warm up to him eventually". John nodded "I remember when we first saw him he was a slave on the Ship and when the Pirates attacked it he jumped ship with us and we built or I should say you built this ship and became Captain of the Pirates"!
"Yes he is as harmless as a puppy but the puppy when angry has the temper of a bull"! ."Well I am sure she will do nothing to anger him they will get along great together unless one of them decides to become master then we will have problems"!

Chapter five
Back on land!
Catherine was horrified when she heard the news of the Pirate attack at sea.
The sisters and Henry where becoming more and more worried about her as she didn’t come out to eat and her meals were left outside cold!
Finally after many days of nervous waiting she came down stairs.
She was red eyed from crying and look sickly and pale and hardly made it down the stairs before she feel forward and would have hit her head if Henry had not caught her in his arms she looked up at him with red eyes as he carried her to a chair and sat her down his two sisters where sitting there with worried faces and looked at Catherine as she sat down and choked back a sob and hardly could swallow the tea they gave her.
Finally Henry spoke he said "do you want to hear the news or will you not be able to take it"?
"I can take it", she croaked Henry took a deep breath as he touched something on his chest and read in a calmed voice "Dear madam we regret to inform you that your master and his wife and two daughters have been found to be dead.""There is hop though Mrs.Anne Dawson has not been found and could still be alive on some ship I hope this news gives you hope".

Henry looked up at Catherine who dried her eyes and said "that dose give me hope but what about Pirates if she is taken what will they do with her"? "I don’t know" said Henry "but if she has no one left they can’t used her for ransom it might be fruitless to hope"。"Henry"! said both of her sisters "don’t upset her more she just got over it". "No no its fine" said Catherine with a smile "I can believe she is alive that will keep me alive as well even though I may never see her again".
"Excuse me" said Henry suddenly "I have something important I must see to".
And he got up so fast it startled Catherine and swiftly left the room.
"I hope" said Catherin "my behavior did not make him upset really his massage did not bother me" . "No"! said Linda "I do not think it is that he sometimes gets these strange implosions I will go see what it is this time".
And she got up and followed Henry out the door Lydia smiled at Catherine and said "would you like something to eat you haven’t eaten in months" !
"Yes"! said Catherine with a weak smile "that would be nice".
"Wait hear then I will call the servant for something light".
Linda followed Henry's footsteps to where she knew he was going heard tearing and howling then quietness! She opened the door to the room and saw him lying on the floor cloths torn with a wide gash in his arm around his neck the silver medallion had flown off a few feet away from him. She went up to him cautiously picked up the medallion and went up to him his wounds were already healing. She put the medallion back on his neck and stepped back as he opened his eyes which were still faintly glowing! She stepped back and watched him cautiously. He stood up shakily and looked at her with a blank face for a few moments. Then reorganization came over his face and he smiled she smiled back and he winced "how is it healing"? She asked ."
Its fine". "You shouldn’t have read the letter to her it was just to much on your heart all the excitement she has given you". "I am surprised you could hold it that long". "It was longer than I expected"! He said smiling faintly "but once I left I had already started changing that is why I ran by the time I got to the iron room I had already half changed"!
"I am glad you did not change in front of her" said Linda with a smile "It would have frightened her off forever"! Henry nodded "So do you think Anne is still alive"? "If Edward found her I am sure she is". Heaven only knows how far he has gone to conceal the truth from her." "Knowing Edward he might go to any length to hide the truth from her he and I are the same in that way". "And you both are in love and have to hide the truth from the girl you love"."It is sad how is she going to react when she finds out"?"Like you did I hope" said Henry "that is why I plan on making her more acquainted with me so that when she dose find out it wont matter as much as if she hardly knew me". Linda smiled "good luck in that If you can speak to her for more then a few minutes without starting to mumble and gibber nonsense" .
"Hey its not my fault I get excited and it takes time for me to calm down"!
"Well you have to work on that before you speak to her or you will get no where I suggest you practice before speaking to her and go to the yoga master his lessons have helped you with calming yourself have they not" ?"They have your right I had better do all that stuff before I speak to her again" ."Good now I will go to her and see if sister have gotten her to eat something she is going to need her strength in the coming days"!
Days went by in Newcastle Catherine tried to put the past behind her and it seemed like the others were helping her to do so they made no comment of Anne nor of anything related to the subject. Instead she noticed Henry was paying attentions to her which were not unwelcome since she liked him but it was strange for he sometimes just sat by her for a full hour not saying a word and sometimes he would start blabbering about nothing until he got up and left red with embarrassment on those days she would not see him again all day and in the evening when he would come to dinner he would look washed out and pale. She had no explanation for this behavior except that he was in love that was the only explanation she could think of and it made her smile thinking in that way. And when she looked at his sisters they seemed to confirm it giving him little looks and hints it was unmistakable and she felt flattered thinking of him helped her get her mind off Anne and her brother who she was sure was also dead .But when she thought about Henry and that he could perhaps love her it made her feel better.
Henry in the meantime was totally ignorant of her thoughts and thought everyday that he was getting nowhere although his sisters told him it was getting somewhere he didn’t see it all e saw where polite smiles and giggles every time he spoke to her and laughter every time he left in a hurry but he would not give up so easy and continued trying he would make it he would.
Meanwhile Catherine was thinking "how can he be so blind it is truly amazing that men are so blind that they cannot even see the truth under their noise!"
"Well I will not be the one to tell him he shall have to see for himself the truth even if it takes all his life".
This went on for some time until he did see but there was another obstacle now how was he to tell he the truth without frightening her and when she found out the truth would she still love him?
This question haunted him for a long time and went on to haunt him until one day something happened which would show weather all his work had been in vain or not.

Days went by in Newcastle Catherine tried to put the past behind her and it seemed like the others were helping her to do so they made no comment of Anne nor of anything related to the subject. Instead she noticed Henry was paying attentions to her which were not unwelcome since she liked him but it was strange for he sometimes just sat by her for a full hour not saying a word and sometimes he would start blabbering about nothing until he got up and left red with embarrassment on those days she would not see him again all day and in the evening when he would come to dinner he would look washed out and pale. She had no explanation for this behavior except that he was in love that was the only explanation she could think of and it made her smile thinking in that way. And when she looked at his sisters they seemed to confirm it giving him little looks and hints it was unmistakable and she felt flattered thinking of him helped her get her mind off Anne and her brother who she was sure was also dead .But when she thought about Henry and that he could perhaps love her it made her feel better.
Henry in the meantime was totally ignorant of her thoughts and thought everyday that he was getting nowhere although his sisters told him it was getting somewhere he didn’t see it all e saw where polite smiles and giggles every time he spoke to her and laughter every time he left in a hurry but he would not give up so easy and continued trying he would make it he would.
Meanwhile Catherine was thinking "how can he be so blind it is truly amazing that men are so blind that they cannot even see the truth under their noise!"
"Well I will not be the one to tell him he shall have to see for himself the truth even if it takes all his life".
This went on for some time until he did see but there was another obstacle now how was he to tell he the truth without frightening her and when she found out the truth would she still love him?
This question haunted him for a long time and went on to haunt him until one day something happened which would show weather all his work had been in vain or not.

Time go’s bye and children grow up.
Life went back to how it had been and Anne and Catherine returned to their home and went back to their everyday life. Mr. Jones and his sisters sometimes came to visit and when he did the two girls were given a day off. Mrs. Dawson wanted to show Mr. Jones that Catherine lied and that she was a good person and she made her daughters behave on those days, but on the other days she was as bossy and mean as ever.
Of course the girls would not wine to him about their problems but whenever he asked them how there life was they were forced to answer properly and Mr. Jones always went home with a bad impression of the mother and two daughters as did his sisters who where becoming more and more found of the two girls and wished to meet them more and more until they went to their brother with a request.
Henry was in his study when a servant came into the room and said “your sisters wish to speak with you”! “Send them in “he said as the servant left the room.

They both came up to him and said “brother we have a request to ask you”! “Yes” he sad looking at them curiously“ you know we have become very fond of the two girls and enjoy their company so much”. “Yes I can see it”. “Well brother we were both wondering if it would be alright for them to come and stay here at new castle for a few months”? “it is extremely dull and Mr. Dawson is taking his family for vacation so the girls will be at home by themselves.”
“Sisters you know I can’t have them live in this house what if they find out the truth they will be frightened away for eternity do you want that”?“No”! They both sighed “but brother do you really think it will affect them that much I mean we found out by accident and it only made us lock ourselves up in our room for a week after which when we saw you meant us no harm we got used to the fact and came out and just ignored it”.
“Yes but sisters you must remember you were living with me all those years and you knew me they don’t nor do they know Edwards true identity”.
“Well we don’t need to tell them that I mean it’s not like he is going to come back“. “True but he being Edward we never know what his planes are he could show up without warning anytime when he is on the run”! “That is true but what is to be done about that？” “Well it is likely that Anne will be going with them and Catherine will be left at home so I guess we could invite her over but remember keep her away from me as much as possible” .”You remember at the dance how he had to hold me back I would have jumped on her otherwise” !
The sisters nodded soberly “thank you brother we promise to make it as easy as possible for you while Catherine is hear”.
He nodded and they left the room .He sighed and pulled a Silver medallion out from under his shirt his face contorted as he calmed his breathing and bought his heart rate down then he stood up and left the room it was going to be a long summer with Catherine in the house.

The first few weeks of the cruise went by uneventfully.
They passed by many boats and ships and saw many sea creatures in the water some she had never heard or seen before. When the unexpected thing happened.
It was toward the center of their cruse when it happened.
Anne was in her cabin with her sisters when she heard noises on deck like running and screaming she ran up with her sisters and saw that there ship was being attacked by cannons from a ship with black sails and a skull and crossbones! Pirates! “Get below”! Shouted the captain to her “it is no place for you girl get below deck”!
Anne didn’t hesitate she got below where her cousins and Aunt where waiting for her to come back with the news. When she told them about the pirates the Aunt and two cousins went into hysterics and screaming uncle soon came down and the five of them hide in the cabin.
Then an explosion shook the whole boat it blew up!

They all snickered and went back to their duty.

The cabin door opened and down the corridor came the sound of boots and she stood up and backed into a corner in front of her was a man with a scraggly beard and sea captains hat dressed in trench coat and boots!
Very much like pirate cloths she thought to herself as he came up to her and said “hello miss I am Captain John Scruffier of the Swift Death”!
A Pirate ships name she thought and looked at the men behind him they were all tough and gruff looking men dressed in nothing but pants and boots with hug muscle body’s or scrawny body’s."What do you want with me"? she said "I am alone and have no relations so you cannot keep me for ransom".
The Captain smile "oh come now I am sure there is someone who will be worried about you"? "No you just killed the only relation that dose care about me"!
"Well that is bad news isn’t it men we will just have to let her go somewhere where is the closest port"?
"London port Sir". "Well now the port is covered in armed clompers this time of the year we will just have to wait till next year to let her go till then she is a guest on this ship not a prisoner remember that men".
"Ayy Ayy Sir"! Said the men. "Good now get back to work all of you"!
They all saluted and left the room leaving the captain and Anne alone in the cabin.
"You can feel lucky miss that you have no relations otherwise we would have held you for ransom and you would have been a prisoner but since you do not and we cannot use you like that you just have to stay on this ship until we can set you free until then you are a guest on my ship and you will join me for dinner this evening in my cabin".With that he turned and left the room.Anne was frightened this was unlike anything she had ever experienced before taken by Pirates and stuck on there boat was the worst thing imaginable for her and now she was stuck on the swift Death with no way to get off she was as good as prisoner no matter what the captain said.
She sat on the edge of the Bed and cried! A knock at the door made her look up "who is it"? She chocked, "second mate hear to prepare you for this evening".
"Go away" she said "tell the captain I am not coming"!
"Oh I wouldn’t do that if I were you missy" said the voice" the captain does not like it when his orders are ignored". "What is he going to do to me"? Anne said "he can’t hurt me all he can do is threaten me" "True"! said the voice in a soothing tone "but you would like the way in which he threatened you would you"? Anne didn’t know why but she agreed and the door opened to revel a tale not to muscular man in his early twenties with a black beard and shinning eyes and he smelled! Not bad but it was a strange smell that made her mouth water and she came closer he pulled back holding out a dress as he said in the same soothing voice "the captain asks that you wear this dres"s! She took it from him still looking at him as she took the dress and left the room to change.
The black beard man smiled she didn’t recognize him at all his power was working on her nicely he had no worry of her recognizing him! She came back from the room she had been changing in and he smiled she looked very pretty in the dress he chose and was glad he chose it. "Now" he said to John who was sitting at the captain seat "you did very well now you must go on a little deeper she is going to come in and I being second mate will eat with you continue your role as captain and everything will be fine".

Also he filled his goblet with something from a pouch at his side when she wasn’t looking and drank it. After the meal was over He took her back to her room and locked the door behind him then he let out a deep sigh! "That would have been a giveaway" he thought

He then went to his own quarters where he and John shared a room .
John was in his room taking off the fake beard and whiskers and through a secret compartment he was pulling up a line on it were raw fish and other sea creatures he was draining the blood and throwing the fish back the blood then went into pouches all along the walls.Edward also removed his fake beard and whiskers and sank into the chair as he said "you did well for your first day of being captain". "Thank you sir and you did well at being second mate but I think your power over her did more did you see her face she was practically hypnotized"! "Yes but I only used it slightly to cloud her when it was meal time and to get her to come". "I have to do it without power tomorrow just to see if my disguise is enough if not then I will have to keep her hypnotized until we can let her go" .John nodded. "Fine sir I even found a body of a dead person who still had blood in him I drained him and you should have enough to last for a few weeks"."Thank you John I really appreciate you helping me in this way".

The Ball!
The sound of the wheels and horses clomping through the dirt road was the only noise hear as the Dawsons made their way to Newcastle for the ball Mrs. Dawson was in very bad humor as she stared out the window when she found out that a maid was to go with them and that she was to wear a French ball room dress from her brother she threw a fit and her daughters cried but they went in a sulky mood but by the day of the ball they had forgotten all about it and told themselves that it didn’t matter because he would still like them best they were determined to ignore their cousins as much as possible and that is what they were doing in the carriage occasionally giving her and her friend dirty looks and sometimes staring enviously at Catharine’s new dress.
But soon they forgot all about it as they came closer to Newcastle even their mother cheered up a bite and said "Now girls remember what I told you about first impressions”.
They nodded and as the carriage came to a stop the Port man opened the door and the ladies got out. They made their way to the house entrance music was playing and talking was heard they went in.
The Butler checked their names off the list as they went in the house.
Inside there was liveliness and they went into the room and stood around watching the dance.
Ssuddenly through the door came Mr.Jones and the music stopped everyone looked up at him he was leading his sister by the hand and behind him his other sister was being lead by the hand of another young Gentleman!
Everyone was silently studying Mr. Jones he was of medium height with a fair face and handsome features and was dressed very gentleman like but his friend caught the attention of the others especially Anne.
He was tall with a good figure dark handsome features and very gentleman like.
It was soon circulated that his name was Darcy and he was a naval officer on leave!
Anne turned to Catherine who was next to her and said “Don’t you think he is much more handsome then Mr. Jones”?
Catherin smiled, “Certainly although I do think Mr. Jones is more my type”.
“Good then you can have him and I can have Mr. Darcy.”
They giggled playfully then the music started again and the two girls moved to the side of the room and watched with amusement as Mrs. Dawson took her two daughters up to Mr. Jones and his friend and introduced themselves.
The Gentlemen smiled polity and nodded then they both took one girl and went to the dance floor after the dance was over Catherine and Anne were talking in a corner when they heard a voice which said “If you are otherwise not engaged may I request the next dance Mrs. Dawson “?
Anne looked up surprised to see the face of Mr. Darcy!
Well uhh sure it would be a pleasure she said curtsying he bowed and went away.
How did he know my name asked Anne out loud?
“He must have gotten it from your uncle” said Catherine with a smile .
Anne blushed. Surprised and embarrassed on being asked after for she was sure that is how he had gotten her name the next dance came and Mr. Darcy came up to her she curtsied and taking his hand.
They went onto the dance floor! They began the dance in silence and Anne who was shy was happy to have it that way when suddenly he spoke “you are an orphan I believe”? “Yes I was at at a young age orphaned and live with my uncle”! .
He nodded “I am an orphan to I went to sea at 15 and heard while at sea that my father had died of stroke I went back to try to find my sister but they told me she was nowhere to be found we searched hard but eventually had to give up and I went back to the navy”!
“That’s interesting” said Anne “you see that girl there she said pointing at Catherine she is my adopted sister my uncle found her at a maid orphanage and took her in her story is much like yours she told me her brother left home when he was 15 to join the navy then soon after her father died and she was frightened and ran away from home and wandered into London and was a beggar until she was picked up by the offices of the orphanage”!
“Really” he said “and how old is she”?
19 like myself! “Could it be he thought you say her name is Catherine well that is my sisters name to and she is the right age two could it be it would be wonderful to know that she was still alive”.
After the dance Anne took him over to Catherine who was sitting in the corner watching the couples she looked up and said with a smile “you do well together”
“Thank you”! Said Darcy then Anne said “Catherine Mr. Darcy hear would like to dance with you”! “Me”! Said Catherine with shock “very well but I must warn you sir I am not a very good dancer”!“You will be more than sufficient”he said talking her hand and leading her to the floor.
Anne watched them intently through the whole dance she watched with a happy smile as she saw her friends face light up with shock and Mr. Darcys face brighten to she smiled could she wish for anything better for her friend the dance was soon over and Catherine came toward her flushed and with a happy smile said “guess what I just found out something wonderful”! “I can see”. said Anne “come dear tell me what is it is”! Anne blurted out “my brother is still alive”! “Really”！ Said Anne with a smile “and where is he”? "Hear”! Said Catherine “right her behind me”!
Anne looked at Mr. Darcy who smiled and said “it is true everything matches up the date our fathers name our last name and our age it all adds up”!
“That is wonderful”! Said Anne I am so happy for you “I must tell Mr. Jones”. Said Mr. Darcy “excuses us”! He said to Anne taking Catherine’s hand and walking toward Mr. Jones.
She watched as Catherine was introduced and Mr. .Jones and his sisters listened with Astonished faces as he told the story others were also listening ad once the story was over everyone began talking at once Mrs. Dawson came up and said Mr. Darcy “How happy I am for you isn’t wonderful girls she said to Marry and Jane “Yes mama they said “we were always good friends with her weren’t we Anne“? They said as Anne walked up.
Mr. Darcy frowned and said “really because I hear a very different account from my sister hear that you have treated her very ill indeed and that Anne hear was her only friend while she was with you”!
Marry and Jane were speechless as was the mother.
Mr. Jones broke the silence with “well now on that happy note shall we continue where did the music go”? “Come now step up everyone the music began again”!
The ball was soon over and The Dawsons were asked to stay a Little longer for Mr. Darcy said he would like to speak with Mr. Dawson some more after everyone left.
They were led into the drawing room and all sat down Mr. Darcy spoke first
“I would like to say first that I am extremely happy to find that my sister is alive and well and that I wish with all my heart I had never left but that cannot be helped now. Secondly I would like to thank Mr. Dawson for his kindness in taking her in and to Mrs. Anne for being such a good friend to her his thanks was received cordially. And now come to the point I want her to come and live hear while I stay in Newcastle I have talked it over with Mr. Jones and his sisters and they are more than willing to help out then when I go back into the navy she can decide if she would rather live with Mr. Jones or Mr. Dawson that is completely up to her?
There was a long silence Catherine was struggling to make a choice of course she wanted to go and live with her brother but what about Anne she couldn’t just leave her to this fate of working alone again so she made up her mind she said “brother please don’t take this personally but I would rather stay with Anne we have both become good friends and she needs me.”

“well here is what I proposes I only have a week to be hear then I have to go back to the navy, until then why don’t both of you come and stay with me and Mr., Jone He said giving his friend a pleading look. Mr. Jones nodded in agreement“yes why don’t you come”? “After all Catherine you might never have another chance like this to see your brother again”.
If that is alright with you Sir” said both men looking at Mr. Dawson It is alright with me” said Mr. Dawson if the girls will agree?“Of course “said both of them together “that would be wonderful”! “Great”! Said Mr. Darcy “then we can begin.” “Come we can show you to the rooms you will be staying in and we will send a servant for your cloths” .
Mrs. Dawson and her two daughters tried to keep their faces composed but then right after they had got into their carriage and were making their way toward home Mrs. Dawson threw a fit “how could you” she screamed to her husband .“Well he said what did you want me to do refuse that would have looked very bad in the eyes of both men. Was I to refuse his request to be with his sister before he went into the navy or make ourselves look good in his eyes? Dear be reasonable".Mrs. Dawson was quite after that but her daughters were crying all the way home and their father could not make them be quite.
Meanwhile back at Newcastle estate things were in a much more cheerful mood Catherine and Anne sat down in the drawing room with Mr. Jones two sisters Linda and Lidya They were two of the most elegant and sweet women they had ever met and soon they were talking and getting to know each other better.
Once the girls were gone the two men came into the drawing room with the lights out.
And sat talking in hushed whispers do you think they suspect said Edward Darcy to his friend Henry Jones .He shook his head “not in the least “,”when will you return to the Swift Death”! “Just as soon as I can jump ship my men are waiting for me Jones under no circumstance are you to let my sister know my real business it would lead to unwanted questions about both of us” ! “I understand I would not want to frighten my sisters off ether they are safest with me and I will make sure to watch over your sister as well.” ”And her friend”said Edward with a slight smile.Jones winked at him “of course her friend to I wouldn’t forget about her”.
Edward punched him playfully and the two men left the drawing room and headed off to get something to eat.
Meanwhile the girls were talking together in their bed room “what do you think about all that just happened”Anne asked “it is truly amazing that things should turn out like this” said Catherine “just think we both became beast Friends under unusual circumstances and under even more unusual circumstances I met my brother who I thought was dead”! “Yes it is most unusual” said Anne “and what about now knowing that you might never see him again for he is going into the Navy”!
“It is sad” said Catherine “I do so wish that I could spend more time with him but what can be done about it”? “Nothing”!“So I must just enjoy my time with him while I can”.Then they both drifted off into a deep sleep.
The week went by uneventfully Anne and Catherine stayed at the large estate of Newcastle and did uneventful things Catherine’s brother taught them both horseback riding and other sports. But all to soon a week was up and they were at the port waving goodbye to their new friend. He kissed both of them goodbye then waved from the ship as he sailed away.
